Congratulations to MSc student Derrick Groom on being awarded an American Museum of Natural History Frank M. Chapman Research Grant. These research funds will support Derrick’s field-based research on the evolution of fatty acid metabolism in hummingbirds taking place in Brazil in summer 2012.

Professors Welch, Boonstra, McGowan, and Weir were awarded an NSERC RTI that will support the purchase and installation of an “Environmental chamber for the study of wild-caught mammals and birds”.

Congratulations to incoming PhD student Brandy Velten on being awarded one of a handful of prestigious Ontario Trilliam Fellowships! Brandy will be joining the lab in fall 2012.
